How late in the summer do PM's lay eggs and hatch them?

Is it too late in the summer for me to believe that I might get a family of PM's ??? How late in the summer do they breed?

My first ever Martin egg was laid 6-17. The clutch was completed Thursday. I suspected eggs were coming though as I spotted green leaves going into a gourd two weeks ago today on a Sunday.
I have several other birds but do not believe they will nest this year primarily to not finding a mate. I've had consistent daily activity from several birds since may 17th.
By the end of June mating is almost over in Northeast Ohio

2017 632 babies 11died and 20 were killed by hawks
2015 74 pairs and 9 eggs 5/14

- Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.
I've had a renest (SY male threw out their eggs) that was laid in early July. Five babies did fine and fledged mid August. They took off immediately after. I had to mist and ice pack in the house to help them with the heat. But they all made it.

Continuing to find new clutches of eggs here in south TX, in gourds that have just fledged young. Either it's SY pairs that had to wait to get a gourd, or it might be adult pairs going for a second brood, despite the heat and continuing drought. I wish they would not do that! But current broods are all looking good and healthy, the rains in April & May helped increase insect numbers.
Kinda glad to hear that Louise. I was thinking of asking a similar question myself. I have 2 (what seem to be SY) pair that act like they are searching for a nesting spot. I was thinking that it was way to late, but maybe not. I know nesting this late would be a HOT endevor for them in the south.

mitch once I killed 70 starlings the pairs kept arriving from other colonies that were starling infested. I'm retired and appreciate them so much I watch over them like my children. my houses are full and I don't know if I can physically add more housing. If it wasn't for my amish friends I wouldn't have the amount of housing up I have now

i think that the reason my colony is growing is the other people that has pm housing close by is not controling the sparrows and starlings; i have eliminated 26 sparrow this year and have all sreh too control starlings;;jr2

I am in North Dakota. My PM season seems even more weird than normal this year.
I did a nest check on June 17 because for the first time since their late arrival, most of the martins were hanging around the gourd rack that day.
I had four nests with one egg each, and one nest with four eggs. I have 16 gourds and at that nest check 13 had well made nests.
I am going to check them again this afternoon to see how the egg production is going.
We had a very late, wet, cold, windy start to the season. They arrived April 29. They're usually here by April 15-23. I've been haunted by a hawk until last week. He kept them from staying at the gourds; they'd only come in right at dark. We had a solid week of rain, non-stop; that was more frightening than the hawk to me.
They've persevered and egg laying is just now in full-swing and the heat and humidity is worse than it should be in August. I saw hens that are not sitting yet hanging their heads out of the gourds and panting.
Like all my past seasons, it's going to be a roller-coaster ride. It's either too cold (I've had snow on my new arrivals in the past) or too hot (but I'm thankful I've not yet experienced jumpers) or too dry, or too wet. This season has managed to experience all of these so far.

- Martin Colony History: Had my site up to 22 gourds of which most (+/-3) stayed occupied.
Downsized to 17 gourds due to back surgeries. Had 14 families in 2017 but did not do nest checks due to health. Feeling better in 2018 and hoping for a good year.

I just saw your post.....you are having/had a rough season!
I sure hope things get better and eggs appear in all the rest of your nests....Heck I might as well go all the way and hope you get a full house!
