i used alumin pop rivets and good cocking, 1/8 by 3/8 and it dont take that much strength to snap the pop rivets

try using sand around the post. cut out a 2 foot diameter area around the post about to inches deep and put sand in it,if you can use white sand for looks. snake git the sand on the under side and cant craw up the pole making them slide down and get more sand on them after a while they give up.

did you try to use sand around the base of the house. take the sod off about 2 feet diameter and use white sand it looks better and snakes and racoon dont like it. make it 2 or 3 inches thick.

they like the gourds very well, i have them under my t 14 and the gourds were full and none in the t14. in the wet times make sure you keep the nest bedding changed.
