I am not too far away from you (Ville Platte). you shouldn't have any trouble attracting martins since they are so plentiful in Louisiana, however, since it is a new setup, you may not get any until sub-adults start coming in later, probably around April. Martins are back!
Looked out the window this morning and two male ASY's flew right into my gourds!!! Also a pair of starlings came at the same time, shot one and the other flew away. My season has begun!

My setup is 19 ft. away from my home and I currenty have 3 pair and 3 singles staying. They don't seem to mind being close at all.
