The winds were high yesterday in Oklahoma and my house pole was bent.
I am currently changing out the pole. I have some small trees nearby so I was wandering if I could move the house away from the trees but the house would be within 15 feet of my home. Is that too close?

Sharris:
I have a trio castle about 12 feet away from my house, and it's full! They don't seem to mind. I have two other houses and both are about 15 ft away from trees and they're full too. I think we have a shortage of martin houses in my area so they take what they can get I guess.

P.S. I hope you're away from those terrible wild fires I've seen on the news.

Okie,
My houses are also less than 12 ft from my two story house. I have blocked the back doors and doubled the space inside. The open doorways face our house so we can see all that goes on. This photo << was taken looking out our window.
Also, my houses are only raised to the 11 ft height. They don't seem to mind this either.
And I think the closeness to our house keeps the Starlings away..
