Unk Bond, I think it is great that you like sharing with all of us. I like hearing about the new ways to house purple martins that you come up with. I’m so thankful that you want to help others enjoy these beautiful birds.

I like the idea of the Poultry Dust. I will check into that as well

Thank you for the article. I put a little under the straw before the Martins arrive. Not enough to blow around. But enough to kill the mites if they get in the nest. But I will reconsider the matter.

Are there any sparrows are starling’s hanging around your nest box? I hope the little nestling makes it. Please keep us informed.

You could use diatomaceous earth. It is safe for you and the birds.

What kind of food do you put in the trap?

I just added the gourds this year. No Martins have taken to them yet. The Martin house has 12 Martins in it and I have one other house (no pictures) that has round holes. I have 6 Martins in it.

Thank y’all so much. I’m going to check into that Van Ert trap. I have 18 Martins this year. I only had 4 last year. I’m so excited. I don’t want anything to happen to them. They are such a joy to watch and listen to.

They don’t seem to be bothering the Martins as of now. But I’m afraid of them doing it later on. What do you think?

Does anyone know how I can get rid of these aggravating starlings? I’m not a very good shooter and I keep missing.
