As far as the wind issue i lower the complete upper, smaller sec. and leave it that way,never had a problem,the martins pick that one first every year. also have had some strong winds over the years and so far no problems, it is as noted a good idea to drill your pole for saftey. good luck

Bio, i would say with the two sections the tele is about 10 ft. Just be sure to use the bigger sections and not the thin one on top. what housing do you have? i have barn with 6 bo 11 under it,thats what brought my martins in i believe, Leaving it lower you do not have to worry about storms,we live ...

Like i said why raise and lower, leave it lower, i have a trio right next to my s&k tele and they choose the lower one first each year!

Such great news,took me a long time to, i remember just sitting there watching for hours. Seems like when you finally get martins they become your own!!! Take care of them and they will come back year after year,i think they believe they own you as well,lots of luck pal!!!

you might try a decoy,it and dawnsong did it for me but took awhile, keep up the fight,once you get the martins exstablised the s&s problem will get easyer, good luck!! you will make it joplin folks as we well know are fighters,and survivors.

they will, its the best thing you can do,i love to watch the yellow beaks try to push their way in. Hopefully the snow in next weeks forecast will not come to pass,i lost one last week to the cold weather,the others i have not seen for couple of weeks. Good luck with your martins.

dont wish to hard lots of dead martins around because of lack of food and subfreezing temps,warm up this weekend then more snow in forcast here for later next week,i only have lost one that i know of. good luck,we still have lots of snow cover on ground here.

my martins left,have not seen since the cold weather came back,hopefully went south for awhile,with two weeks of sub freezing nights and all this snow i wonder if you could feed enough,hopefully so. the end of the month looks like it might warm a little here but thats two weeks off,good luck to all.

we are north of caseys off school road, have not seen martins since cold weather came in,hopefully they went south,i tryed flipin eggs one year with no results,where do you get crickets? mealworms? good luck

peculiar mo. report

put castle and barn house with gourds up yesterday and had 2 pair before i was done.they must have been waiting for me, 80 today,snow for monday,they better eat up. Had 16 pair last year and only lost 2 young,about 64 fledged,hoping for another good year in peculiar.

if they are martins i dont see any chance of making it 1 degree thursday nite and blissard conditions tue and wed, 14 plus inches forecast here,no insects around here for quite awhile,maybe they will sence the storm and head south.
