I witnessed something yesterday that was truly amazing. As I was taking a walk with my son at around 6pm he spotted a big barred owl in an oak tree in our front yard. This was the first time I had seen one up close and boy are they scary looking. Those big sunken eyes and the hugh talons and beak had me already fearing for my martins next year. As we stood there staring at this massive bird and my son waving at him(he's only 2) a female coopers hawk flew across our yard and slammed right into the owl! What a sight as the owl realized what had just happened and counter attacked the hawk. The coopers hawk was too fast for the owl to catch but boy did he try. The hawk kept the alarm call going the whole time and tryed her darndest to scare that owl away. It was over in about a minute and both were gone. Truly amazing.

Wow!!!! Mike! What a site that was!!!! They are something else!!!! Hopefully they both will move on but this time of year hawks are migrating thru!!! So they will be around awhile!! I sent you a private message about the snake guard so look at your message on this site to see it! Thanks John!

Mike. Oh wow. I'll bet that was something to see. I can almost picture the look of surprise on that Owls face. Probably like. Huh?? What the heck was that?? Then the surprise turned to anger, and probably even more so since the Hawk outflew it. ha ha. Too bad you couldn't have filmed that. CUL Lou

Last week I was wqatching some crows mob a Coopers hawk when it suddenly took after one of the crows. It was, I think a half hearted attact, more to warn the crow to back off. That was somthing new for me too.
