Nest Check #9 - 5/23/26

Hello to all,
Dropped my colony this weekend. Total young now at 238 scattered among 61 gourds. Egg count is 31. Potential fledges is 269; down 19 from last week. Go figure. Example - Upper 1 of Rack 1 had 6 eggs on 4/18 and no eggs the week prior. Had 6 eggs 4/24 and 3 young but no eggs on 5/2 check. Another example - Lower 9 of Rack 3 was nothing but leaves and needles 5/2, 4 eggs 5/9 and 5/17. Yesterday down to 2 eggs.
My young birds are spread from pinkies to probable fledges before next week's check.
Had to plug 10 gourds on Rack 1; 4 each on Racks 2 & 3 on this week's check.

Thanks Mike. I just finished a nest check with the help of my two granddaughters. Results were 105 eggs and 56 hatchlings from thirty seven gourds and chirpy nest on three different racks. These are my best numbers in three years.

.. We did our net check yesterday and found 27 pair and 121 eggs, also found one nest with 5 new babies.. Have a good season..
