We have one nest box with a raccoon baffle and another dozen boxes high up with spikes surrounding the metal pole farther down. All safe and good.

Another box sits 5 feet up atop a 4 x 4 post. Last night a raccoon or a cat got hold of one purple martin as the nest is intact but the hole and the box are full of his feathers. The metal hole surround is bent down also.

We also have another box attached to the side of our wooden shed. I never see any nesting action there. Ideas on how to predator proof that are welcome also.

I'm heartsick as two martins hatched this year and they've stuck together like brothers flying high and all around this season. Now the other one is alone. :(

I’ve been using electric solar charger. Before that I used baffle guards and snake trap using netting.
