I made metal birdhouse hangers to suspend plastic gourd birdhouses off of and out from trees. For the birdhouse hanger, I welded a steel rod to a 3" x 1/4" lag bolt and welded a washer to the rod to prevent the birdhouse from moving too close to the tree. I drilled a hole through the outside part of the rod to accommodate a cotter pin. The birdhouse hanger is screwed into a hardy tree. Removing the cotter pin allows the birdhouse to be easily added to and removed from the birdhouse hanger.
Why doesn't someone manufacture and sell these?
