I want a gourd rack, thinking of one with 12 arms. I found a good deal on one locally, but still open to other ideas. The local one is 10 feet tall with rope pulley. Not my first choice, but it appears to be well made and is cheap. I have decided to get Troyer verticals. I added 4 of them to my house this year and the PMs filled them up quickly. Thoughts?

I'd say go for it! New ones are expensive. Be hard to pass up.

I would go for if the rope pulley is working well. I have two twelve gourd racks. One is double tier the other circular. I added four gourds to my circular for a total of twenty eight gourds. I have twelve vertical and fourteen horizontal with two chirpy nest. I believe I will add a third eight gourd rack to complete my system. Troyers has a good deal this summer on their eight gourd rack system. For $341.95 they will ship you the pole and rack system including eight verticals gourds. I have not decided yet which style gourd I prefer. Hope it all works out good for you.

I would go with troyers they are the best on the market today you can trap with the gourds vertical and Horizontal Both very good
I have referred numerous landlords in New England and nobody has complained. Buy
stainless steal arms is possible in case of owl problems they cant bend them and please male sure you drill vent holes in the gourds.
They learn the hole very easy. Crescent gourds are obsolete. Plus martins avoid the hole if they find a Troyer conley gourd.
My group have over 400 troyer gourds. Houses are conley hole too. Most are used yearly. I have never used anything But troyer.

Can’t argue with Ray. Both my racks are from Troyer. They have been through some serious wind storms and still standing strong. They are not cheap but as you all know,we get what we pay for.

Put up a Troyers Gemini 24 this year to go along with the Troyer 24 super system. Personally I prefer the supersystem after 1 year with both because of the lack of symmetry. My super system has 5 different types of verticals where as the Gemini has all the same horizontals. Never had a rope pulley system so no comment. Can't go wrong with Troyer's racks imo. Good luck.

Add me to the Troyer list.
Purchased and setup a Troyer 12-gourd rack along with Troyer vertical gourds last year.
The Conley II entrance combined with wing-entrapment protection is the big selling point for me.

Thanks for the replies. I'm definitely getting the Troyer verticals with Conley entrances as this is what my other 4 gourds are. I want 12, but man the Troyer 8 sale is a good one. I'm going to look at that now!

Good choice Thomas. My martins like the troyer supers.. very good gourds.. just fyi, The tunnel entrances for the troyers give the martins a deeper compartment, and protect from wind blown rain.. I have them on all my troyer supers…
Good luck

I went ahead and bought the Troyer 8 gourd system summer deal. I added cooling caps and the predator guard. Time to dig out the shovel!
