I received and hung up a new S&K Boaxis plastic gourd yesterday where I had a natural gourd failure earlier this year on a tri-tel pole with 5 natural gourds. I have to say I'm very impressed with this new design and offering. It can be hung vertically or horizontal depending on your situation or desire. I also like the 1 piece construction with the inside being solid black and the outside a nice white coloring with vent cap and tunnels included with the purchase. Hopefully PMCA will work out a deal with this manufacturer to offer in here. I will be ordering 20 this year to replace the SK house and Barn that are not so productive at my site as well as adding 6 more atop my third tri-tel pole. The only negative I could find was the push tabs to add the tunnel by drilling 2 1/4" holes on the protrusion of the gourd, left the tabs sticking up in the middle of the tunnel where the Martins would have to go over....don't know if it could scrape them or not so I cut most of it off and in the future will use an adhesive to affix the tunnels to the gourd in lieu of the tabs.

I chose this gourd due to weight/design, and clearance on having a horizontal configuration configuration for the top row of gourds on the tri-tel pole, to have room for the bottom row of vertically hung gourds.

My thoughts but overall a great design and solid gourd if you're looking at adding some cavities to your colony.

Can you not push the tabs in from the inside giving a smoot surface and the push pin part would be hanging out the bottom of the tunnel under the gourd out of the way.

LOL...love it but I do feel like the fool now. Great observation...reminds me of Billy Bob and Slingblade during the "ain't got no gas in it" lawn mower scene...

Well, that’s the truth. I don’t believe there’s anybody on this forum that could say they never made a mistake. Lol.
