Has anyone tried this type of gourd? What were the results? Are they difficult to hang level? Is this any better or worse than the Troyer?
Thinking ahead to next season!
Once I got rid of that one very pesky male house sparrow I have LOTS of martins visiting my Supergourds all excited and flying around. They spend a lot of time looking in the entrances but NEVER go in. Is that unusual? I know it is too late to nest but I thought that they might be curious and go on in. I know that martins can get in the crescent shaped entrances as I had an older male sleeping in a Supergourd last April. He spent a few nights here but then moved on.
Is there any harm in lowering the height of the pole, while the martins are nesting, if a strong thunderstorm is approaching with high winds?

I care for a 6 condo Sunset House as well as two Deluxe Gourd Racks, with 24 Chirpynest/Excluder gourds, along a canal in Pompano Beach, Florida.
At Quiet Waters Park, nearby in Deerfield Beach, I care for a Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 TVG's. I also care for a Deluxe Gourd rack with 12 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder entrances. I am substituting 6 Chirpynest boxes for 6 of the Conley II entranced gourds in 2026.
At another local park, Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, I care for a Trendsetter 12, 5 gourds rack with 60 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder Entrances and 1 Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 Troyer Vertical Gourds with Starling Stoppers over the Conley II's to keep out smaller starlings.
Good questions Carl.
From what I've heard here on the forum, if winds strong enough to blow down your martin setup are expected, there is defintely no harm in temporarily dropping it down a bit to increase the strength. There was a gentlemen here who was bracing for a storm recently, and it was suggested that he lower his Trio Grandpa from the max 12 foot height, to around 6 feet to ride out the storm. Fortunately, I think the storm missed him.
As for the Double Gourd question, these definitely look like nice, deep setups. I had inquired about them recently also. Here's that thread:
