I should say what a happy morning. My first asy of the season arrived flying across the lake and landed on the house that’s only half way up and closed compartments. A lot of yelling and excitement at our house. Lol. I think he knew it was his house and he was home. Anyway, that’s what I thought at the time. Been fighting starlings so didn’t want to open until I knew they were here. He stayed around for about 5 mins and I quickly put the house all the way up. That was 8 am this morning and haven’t seen him or any others back. I really hope he comes back this evening.
I’ve trapped 2 starlings and 2 sparrow in the last few days using the Van Art traps in houses placed on our dock and around the yard. The netting for snake guards worked perfectly last year. A 3 1/2’ black snake was so tangled we had to cut the netting to get him out. This happened right before they fledged. Adding more netting this year. I found out about the netting and Van Art traps by reading on the forum. Thanks to all.😃. I sure hope the asy comes back and I didn’t scare him off by not having the house all the way up and open. Guessing I shouldn’t post his arrival unless he stays?
Happy day to everyone. Kaye

Good to hear your traps are working as they should! He'll probably be back tonight hopefully with a friend or two.

Good for you! First on "your guy" 😀 making it home, second on your traps and snake netting!!!!
Man thats awesome, I think youll be fine and he'll be back, hope he brings lots of martins for you.
Those starlings are relentless. No starlings to speak of until the martins show, then they just try to butt in. Glad those traps are working well, the forum is awesome for the help.
I'd make the report!
All the best,
Tom
A good house sparrow is a dead house sparrow.
