I figure it's a long shot. Has anyone experienced a home buyer who was thrilled to acquire your established martin colony via a real estate purchase? Or do most people just take their housing with them?

- Martin Colony History: Formally from Willmar MN moved in 2015 and started new colony in 2019 i had 27 pair.
I did back in 2015 when I sold my home and moved 60 miles away. Had and established martin colony with two houses a T14, a T18 and gourd pole. I took the gourd pole with me because every thing was home made and heavy duty. And that was the easest thing for me to get set up quick at my new place to start my new colony. The new home owner is still managing the colony along with the next door neighbore. The cooper hawks are keeping the colony smaller but that is maybe all they can handle anyway. So I was very happy to pass my property on to the new buyers.

2021:
When me and my wife built our house 2 years ago it was hard to hide one of the main things I was looking at in the lot was enough room for a Martin colony lol I lucked out and it was what we both wanted being that I’m way more obsessed than she is!

When I sold the house at my original colony I had it listed for sale and it sold right before martins started to arrive. The new buyers allowed me to keep the housing up but they said they didn't want to manage it or have housing up the following year. I didn't have a new house yet so I left it up, knowing I was going to move into the same area once we found a house. That year my colony at the old house had 30 pair. That fall we bought a house about 7 miles away. We took the housing down and the next spring I set up the old housing at my new place. My hopes were the displaced martins would find my new house and maybe even recognize the housing, not sure if their brains are that advanced or not but I had the same housing in the same configuration. In the beginning I thought it worked. When the martins returned they were at my old house for a about a week circling the yard looking for their houses. Then the next week one morning I had a slew of ASY's show up at my new location. They stayed for four days and I thought it had worked. After the fourth day they took off never too return and it took several more years to get established again. I am sure the displaced martins either helped someone else get established or added some good numbers to a nearby colony.
