Gary has been on radar looking for the roost , found a large ring leaving a area close to hwy 79 and hwy 35 in round rock, texas. Tonight after he got off work when to see if could found, he did. It is locate off of Parker Rd & sundance pkwy circle in Round Rock , Texas right off of 45, the area where the Applebee's is located. Talked to the manager of Applebee's , he said that they have been coming there for about a week now.

That’s a mile from my house. We were astounded by how many Martins we saw this evening, over the cattle field, across the street from our backyard. We’ve never seen so many Martins in our life!!!

I just checked the Travis Audubon website about the roost. I wonder if the birds that normally go to Austin have moved to Round Rock this year because so far no one has found it! It would be so cool to have them closer to all of us  This is what they wrote:

Purple Martin Parties

2018 Dates: July 13-14, July 20-21, July 27-28

Friday and Saturday nights, 7:45 – 8:45 pm, FREE

Sometimes nature doesn’t do what we predict, and this year’s Purple Martin roost is a perfect example of that. The birds have not started arriving in the numbers that we usually see in Austin this time of year, and they are still roosting in multiple places rather than one larger group, so we will tentatively plan to shift the party dates back one week and start the weekend of July 13. Please stay tuned for roost location details, as the birds do not seem certain of its whereabouts either!

Travis Audubon posted today they have received permission to hold the martin parties at the new roost location. The roost is by the Applebee’s at La Frontera in Round Rock. Participants have been asked to park behind the bank, to go early to shop and enjoy the restaurants at the center.
For years the martin roost has been in the same general vicinity in Austin. This year, for some reason, they have chosen to roost much further north for the first time. Wish they could talk
