Martin Colony History: I moved to South Florida, from Delaware, in August of 2015.

I care for a 6 condo Sunset House as well as two Deluxe Gourd Racks, with 24 Chirpynest/Excluder gourds, along a canal in Pompano Beach, Florida.

At Quiet Waters Park, nearby in Deerfield Beach, I care for a Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 TVG's. I also care for a Deluxe Gourd rack with 12 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder entrances. I am substituting 6 Chirpynest boxes for 6 of the Conley II entranced gourds in 2026.

At another local park, Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, I care for a Trendsetter 12, 5 gourds rack with 60 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder Entrances and 1 Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 Troyer Vertical Gourds with Starling Stoppers over the Conley II's to keep out smaller starlings.

I visited my two satellite sites this morning.

Quiet Waters STILL has only the one male martin. Last season that site had two nesting pairs. There are 12 TVG's there.

Tradewinds Park now has at least 20 martins. Last year that had 16 nesting pairs. There are 22 condos total. This winter my sister Barbara and I added 24 additional Excluder Gourds on two poles at another nearby site in Tradewinds Park.

I hope so Jim. Getting tired of waiting now. They seem to be coming in slowly this year. I blame it on the lack of S and SW winds here. The weather has been gorgeous & dry but the winds have been out of the NE,N and NW.

Well....I've been waiting and waiting for the little critters for three weeks now and NOTHING in sight.

This should be my first full year in Miami, FL. I had some visitors towards the end of the season last year, so I was really optimistic about my brand new house and location (right in front of a lake).

Three weeks ago I had two Adult Males land on the house and chirp along on and off for an hour or so. Then they disappeared and have not even heard a Martin since.

My fingers hurt from having them crossed for so long!!! It's not working, NOT ONE Martin yet...:(

Well...I think I finally lured a few Martins!!!!!!

I have a pair and a spare. One full grown male staying in one of the slots opposite where the pair is roosting.

For about a week and a half now, they have been spending the night, then they come and go, usually early in the morning and again around noon; and then they show up late in the evening (6-ish) fly around a bit and in for the night around 7:30.
Sooooo....I THINK I HAVE MARTINS!!!!
I'm hopeful the male finds himself a "friend" and the pair starts nest building in a couple of weeks!!!
Is that exiting OR what!!!!
