Well I'm down to my last 6 babies needing to fledge. I can't believe how quickly the season has gone. I wanted to share my numbers.

23 pair
127 eggs laid
115 eggs hatched
112 Fledged (including the last 6 that should be leaving the nest today or tomorrow)

Bittersweet as this is the most I've ever had. I'll be adding more six more gourds to my rack next year! :???:

I hope everyone had a great season and have a Happy 4th of July!

Sounds like an outstanding year to me. Congrats. I still have some feeding around my house. Amazing how you can recognize their song once you get used to it.

Martin Colony History: Well established 90 cavity colony. Mostly plastic gourds with some custom cedar houses atop pilings out over the river. We live stream the activity on our website https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXKqSW ... Ph2tywu4eg

We are on the Maurice River. The Maurice is brackish and tidal. It meets the Delaware bay about three miles down at East Point, NJ. The area is remote and consists of dense marshland and swamp. Dragonflies abound.

Swallows arrive in mid August and finish nesting mid July. There is a large annual roost in mid August upriver a few miles at Mauricetown.

Nice report. Thanks for sharing.
Good luck Purple Martin Landlords.

Thanks y'all. I still have a lot of babies coming back to visit at night. So that helps with me missing them.
