100 gourds offered;

71 nests with eggs for a total of 335.

24 nests complete with leaves ready for eggs.

The remainding 5 with lots of nesting material.

Lots of young SY birds the last few days fighting for cavities.

Looks like a very good year.

Thanks for sharing. I noticed that you spread 100 gourds over 6 poles. I cram a lot more gourds onto each pole, and I wonder if that results in the lower percent occupancy that I see. Do you think there is a minimum spacing on gourds to achieve high occupancy rates? I am currently at about 38 filled out of 48 with 24 gourds per pole with minimum spacing.

Hi Guss, thanks for the reply. The reason for the amount of gourds per rack is the weight and amount of wind resistence. All my poles had 16 ea until the last one it has 20. I had a total of 80 so I wanted to have an even 100.

Have a good year.
