Looking for Active Colonies in Dallas Area

I’m currently trying to find still active colonies that will have babies fledgling the next 7 days. There are 6 rehabbed babies that need to be fledged right away. Time is running out for them to migrate. Colonies that I have been using have already fledged all babies and are not returning. My only other option is to find the morning feeding and daily roosting area in and around Dallas into which they can be released. I DO NOT released new fledglings into the Roost as they don’t get the necessary attention, flight and feeding training and guidance necessary to survive. Please contact me personally at the numbers listed below.

- Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.
Penny, I wish I could help. I would have to meet you in OK City Saturday night. I will be working a craft show in Wellington KS and then could drive down after. Then it is a three hour drive home for me. However, what else do I have to do? I would do it for PM's.
I have three nests to fledge right now. One today and two on 7/13. I have later nests fledging in two weeks and then hopefully will have two in about a month.
I have twelve nesting pairs this year and right now there seems to be activity galore. Do you just put them in the house? With other babies? I do have farm cats which is a worry for me with all fledges, not sure if rehabbed ones hit the ground more.
So I might not be a good choice with cats and distance, but if you want to or are desperate I would meet you.

Deb,
Thank you for answering. Before making any road trips with Martins let me see what develops with the Landlords here. As I'm trying to get ready to leave for work, I'll address your other questions after I return home this evening. Thank you again.

You don't have to address them unless I take them. I was just wondering. Anyway the offer stands. This Saturday I am an hour and a half closer to OK City so that works best for me anyways. I hope you find someone local. Surely there is someone.

Hi Penny,
I can't speak for Peggy who lives in the Dallas area and I hope she logs on and reads your post today. She has 2 late clutches that she expects to fledge end of this month(July).
Here is the post.

This is exactly what the folks at The Austin WildLife Refuge did last Monday this week. The roost in Austin is at Highland Mall. I had a feeling that was wrong so I went up there Tues and Wed after work to see if by some lucky chance, I might find uninjured birds on the ground under the trees in the grass and recover them but I found none.

I live in North Dallas and currently still have some that have not fledged. My colony exploded this year. I have 32 on the wires above my house this morning and the fledglings are coming out on the porch. They may only be there another day or two.
