Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

I think the forum was down last night. I couldn't get on any which way. Error page. Besides popping on throughout the day I like to read before bed. Dang. I had a little withdrawal and I think I need to seek help.

Could be. Because my witty response to TonyG's nest check numbers is also gone. But I have been censored before and told Louise I am sure it won't be the last time! Hahaha.

It appears the Forum developed a Problem which caused a MySQL Database Error and a Database Backup File had to be ran which will not have any of the Posts from after the Date and Time that the last Forum Database Backup was created.

Well maybe I should go crazy quick and repost all my stuff...sneak in a few too. About cats, skunks, where to buy shade cloth...

Life is too short to not have a little fun.

Have a good day everyone. I am going to the garden to hoe weeds. Ugh. Bring on the martins and my mocking bird to cheer me on.

We're sorry some posts were lost - probably just a few that were being made when the problem occurred. Usually when an error message shows up, it will not take too long to get it fixed.

Gobbler T, did your entire thread on martinfest disappear? If so, that's odd - usually threads stay intact and just individual posts have problems. Sorry, please repost if you like.

Louise,
I do think his whole thread is gone. I saw where his subject was martin fest...anybody going? Where to meet up? Etc...

I lost a post that was at the end of the thread, if you do decide to censor a post do you PM the person so they knew they somehow did "wrong" ?? I did make mention without detail of removing some non native competition.

Hi Kathy!
I don't. Well maybe just a smidgeon. I respect PMCA has a job to do. It is tricky to govern peoples' posts. When some things get removed and others don't it can make you paranoid that its just yours. So when removing consistency is key. I am guilty of being so excited about something that is just barely martin related that I run here to my cyber friends. I personally love the commarderie of the members that if we didn't zing off a bit or joke a bit it would become such a boring read. But that's me. Others are not like that.

I also like different opinons on topics. Even if it gets passionate. As long as we aren't mean to one another. But again, that is my definition of mean. When we differ is when we all learn.

Bottom line is...I don't sweat it too long in the big scheme of things. I don't want to switch to the other forum. At least so far. We all have the same love and goal which is more martins for all! I have read this forum for a few years. The knowledge I have gained makes me sound like an expert to my family and friends. Not so much here. But...I have noticed that when it comes to me answering newbie questions cause some of the regulars I learned from aren't as active anymore...well something's up with that. Could be they like the facebook page better. Well, I like this and I fully expect to be trimmed in the future (if not today  ) because afterall that is just me and I doubt I change. Much.

Bill, yes we do let posters know if there is a problem with information they shared. It's fine to discuss control of starlings and house sparrows, but posts about inhumane treatment of same is not allowed.

Deb, I see it happen every few years....they let the ones who have taken off their training wheels start replying to the newbies. "Train the trainers"....like passing down knowledge from generation to generation.

But I also think, some don't want to "double post" on FB AND this forum. I know it's a quandry for me. It's easier on FB to post pictures for some. In order for me to post pictures here, I have to put them on Photobucket because it's such a pain to reduce their size for the forum size restrictions here.

Yes my whole post is gone. I was wondering if I'd crossed some kind of line! I didn't see how, but thought someone else might have.

Great description Kathy!
You are right on.
It's wonderful watching the process of newbies coming into their own, and carrying the torch.

Gobbler T, there was certainly nothing wrong with your post or the thread - I'll try to find out what went wrong, but afraid we probably cannot restore the missing posts or threads - this is a server issue. We're sorry, it's very unusual for that much info to go missing. Usually the site is just down for a bit.
