how does one protect birds from squirrel

squirrel climbing pole to attack babies. how do i protect?

A predator guard, or baffle, will stop the squirrel from climbing the pole, but it will need to be placed up high, so the squirrel can't jump up past it. A metal cone worked on our platform feeder pole - it wobbles a bit and they have not raided the martin feeder since we added the cone.

You may need a removeable baffle so you can still lower your system for nest checks.
