A couple weeks ago I posted about a pair of Rough Winged Swallows that were checking out the 2" pvc pipe that is the vent for my central vacuum. Someone gave me a link to a website that the owner was hosting them in PVC, so I went looking to see if my husband had some laying around and I found some 4" about 16" long and put it up underneath the 2", I saw them flying around checking it out but then I haven't seen them for about 2 weeks.
Yesterday I noticed one was flying around it again. This morn she is building in it. I am so excited to have them. Will try and get a picture to post later.

Here are a couple pictures of the Rough Winged Swallows and the pvc pipe I put up for them, I know it's kind of crude but they seem to have accepted it altho nest building seems to be kind of slow. they are not building in earnest yet.

Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

Crude looks just right, I'd say!
