Currently I have 3 gourd racks with 24 gourds. One gourd rack will be for sy arrivals only.

This is a pole my brother in law made last year so I could put up another gourd rack. I had 1 rack with 8 gourds. There are another 8 gourds on this rack. When I raise and lower the rack it screeches, squeaks, moans, groans, and there is a vibration in the cable. The martins are in the nest building stage. I had one pair nest in a gourd on this rack last year, but I don't remember it being so noisy. I sprayed lubricant on the winch parts, and on the pole, and I also put vaseline on the pole thinking the metal to metal was the problem. Well, it quit squeaking, but still makes a lot of noise. I am thinking this will scare the you know what out of the babies. I can't figure out where the noise is coming from. Will it scare the babies, and does anyone have any suggestions? I know the part the goes up and down should have been bigger so it wouldn't rub the pole, but he had it done before I knew what was happening.

Looks to me that you have a combination of the crooked pulley and metal rubbing against metal on your hub, maybe you can find a way to install a teflon glide buttons on the hub where it's rubbing against the pole?

Yes Ray, that outside pole is too small. I was trying to figure out what to do there. I don't think there is enough room between the 2 poles to put anything to help with the metal on metal. I will try to fix the pulley, and hopefully that will help. I will definitely have to change that for next season. I just hope the babies can deal with the noise. Thanks so much.
