Im finally on the board with the rest of you.
An ASY male showed up this morning as I was sitting outside drinking my coffee. As I start my 7th year trying, once again I'm hopeful this will be my year. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I would love to join the club of landlords.

Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

Come on mister martin...don't you know Tony will treat you like a king? Here's hoping for you Gobbler T!

As we always are Tony! Here's hoping a subbie female hits your area soon - she may not be as picky as an ASY female and take just about anything your boy tells her to!

Way to go Jeff, take me back and remind me of my SY years. LOL

Good luck Tony. As they say good things happen to those who patiently wait. It is a lesson for me, you have waited this long and I got a feeling you maybe rewarded.. This is my second year, so, never know..

Martin Colony History: Had my site up to 22 gourds of which most (+/-3) stayed occupied.
Downsized to 17 gourds due to back surgeries. Had 14 families in 2017 but did not do nest checks due to health. Feeling better in 2018 and hoping for a good year.

Can't imagine there is even one person on this forum not wishing you the best of luck. I think EVERYONE will be doing the PM dance when you become a landlord!!! Good luck!!!! Hoping and praying this is YOUR year!!

This should be a good year with all the subs from last year comming back. The asy part is good except they won't wait as long for some fickle female as a sy male might. I think I might be in trouble. Good luck Gobbler. --- Ed.

Thank you to each and every one of you. I may not have any martins (nesting ones that is) but a guy couldn't ask for more support!
As I was leaving for work I noticed that my elderly neighbor had 2 ASY males on her house. One of whitch was in all likelyhood my visitor this morning, as he came from that way and went back that way when he left. Still in all, it was great to see him on my rack for a short while.

Gobbler T, I think you will probably have all of our martins nesting at your nice warm place. We haven't had much activity up here yet!

I remember your posts from last year, and hope this will be the year for you. Even if they are a few of my martins that decided not to come so far north!

The ASY male will hopefully make the right decision and move in. One is all it will take! More will rapidly follow!

Martin Colony History: Taking care of 11 active public colonies and trying to start two more in northwestern PA. Also attempting to restart another one in southwestern PA, in Collier Township's Hilltop Park. In 2017, not sure what happened but the ASY male returned and then a couple of weeks later he was gone. It could have been weather related. No other birds showed up. I had a starling nesting at the Public site that I had trouble getting rid of.
In 2018, we fledged 629 martins at all of the sites.

Gobbler T,

Each year gets better and better, as you learn and hear more information from this Forum.

You were real close last year, so this year should be yours.

Keep us updated.

Martin Colony History: Had a colony many years ago which dwindled over a couple of years and then did not return. Kept trying each year for almost 20 years and finally had a small success in 2011 with two pairs nesting. Colony has grown slowly each year with 22 pairs in 2015. In 2016 my gourd rack of 18 gourds filled up so I added 4 more gourds and then put up a small rack of 6 gourds. All of those were claimed within a few days so I believe I have at least 25 pairs this year.

Can't think of anyone who deserves a colony of Purple Martins more than you Tony! Rootin' for you from VA :-))
