New arrivals lost their housing?

Just yesterday, three ASY males and two females showed up at my site here in SW Ohio and seem to be activly searching for a nest site! All I can figure is that they lost their housing, poor things, and are trying to get back to work on trying to nest again. Any thoughts on whether they have enough time to succeed? I was dissapointed this spring when both my ASY males from last year showed up real early, but without their mates. Only one eventually nested with an SY female and that is all I have had for all this time. (They are raising four chicks.) The male was, interestingly, very welcoming to any others that showed up, as he is to these guys. I saw one of the visiting males actually in a gourd just a few minutes ago, so I really can't imagine that they are just passing by. Besides, if they had already nested, they shouldn't be so interested in my housing. The only thing that makes sense to me is that either their housing blew down, was taken down, or were ousted by predators or maybe mites? Anyway, sure wasn't expecting these new arrivals but they certainly are welcome. Just hope if they do actually raise young it won't take them too far into the year. What do you all think??? PS By they way, after two months of no sparrows, the day these guys showed up I had put a trap in for a newly arrived pair of sparrows. Isn't that the way it always goes! Took it out of course. I'll tend to them later.
