Does anyone know if the clinger is a good SREH choice. I just purchased some BO 11 plus gourds with this type of entrance. I also would like to know the right distance from the floor up to the bottom of the entrance hole for installing clinger plates. I read about it but can't seem to locate again.
Thanks Glynn

I don’t have the perfect site. One open flyway with trees within 80 ft. I do have a small pond they utilize during the heat of Summer. (2017) HEAVY HAWK PREDATION

Glenn, the Clinger is a really good choice. They've worked very well for me.

Glynn, I have been using the clinger entrance for 5 years now. They are a excellent choice for SREH. The best distance to set them is 1/8" above the porch. Martins navigate this entrance very well at this height.

gwarnerjr, You are 100% correct. I forgot to mention that they do work very well without a porch. I too use them on my gourds and T-10's. All of mine have the tunnel entrance.

i added 4 bo11p gourds with tunneled clinger entrance last year;;and i also bought the clinger tunnels and put them on the side of my trio and i have already added more for next year;;the martins seem too have no problem with them;; i also have the cresent entranes too on the bo11 and trio houses ;not all of my entrances are tunneled but they all have porches that i made out of alumium 1/8 below or even with the bottom of entrance ;;;i think it is a good idea too offer a different variety of entrance but i am staying with the cresent and clinger;jr2

All natural gourds. Access ports and clinger SREH.
32 of 32 gourds occupied 2020
I use them glued(polyurethane caulk) flat to natural gourds. No porches or other extended entrances. They've worked fine for me.
We did alter some by making a notch in the center top of the hole with a Dremmel tool to allow for martins with a geolocator attached to its back. After the season ended I did see a juvenile starling breach one of those.

I saved the Clinger face plates i cut off my Bo11's when i added the Ultimate Tunnels last year, so if my conley II entrances get breached by starlings this year on my THG's i am going to enlarge the Conley II hole and then drill four 1/4 holes and use plastic snaps to fasten the Clinger entrances to the front of the tunnels converting my THG's to Clinger entrances instead of Conley II.
I hope i don't offend anyone by saying so, but I like the look of the Clinger entrance better than the Conley II.

i saved my clinger face plates last year that i cut off of my bo11 gourds when i added the tunnnels; i made the round holes on my old durocraft house a little bigger and added the face plates with pop riviots[ i think pop riviots are eaiser too use than the plastic snaps] and the martins used all 3 entrance plates that i added ahead of the tunneled entrances or the cresent entrances on the same house;;jr2
