Well the Martin has been here in the morning for 3 days straight. I wish I could see it. I know it could be here again or never see it again. But being here 3 day's in a row must be promising. Still hoping it decides to stay. More sparrow nesting material torn out this evening.
I know most of you will tell me to shoot or trap. I live in town so shooting not allowed. Trapping, I am trying to do it stealthy. Last time I trapped a starling my wife didn't talk to me for 3 weeks. She thought I was the lowest scum on earth for killing a bird. Hope I don't get caught this time. I will be removing nesting material as well.
Visiting Martin 3 mornings straight. Must be promising.

That sounds promising! You just have to hope he can find Mate!
Tough about your wife, must be difficult. Have you tried showing her graphic pictures of dead birds killed by sparrows and starlings? Sialis is a good source for things like that. Worked for me real quick!

2nd Year trying to attract martins! Wish me luck!
That's great news! He must like your sight. Can you tell if he's spending the night or not? When I had a lone male, I continued to play the Dawnsong CD on and off in hopes that it would attract more visitors and a potential mate. I played it loud pretty much all day and turned it down when he brought back a female and at night until he went in to roost. Not sure if it helped or not, but he did stick around and get a mate within 3 days or so. It sucks when the male finally attracts a female but she doesn't like the housing or whatever and takes off...so frustrating!

Haven't seen it stay the night. Kind of watching to see if he does. But if he is he is coming in Stealthily. I checked all compartments to tare out any sparrow nests and look to see if I could see a nest bowl of some sort. But it didn't look like there was a nest bowl. I had to lower the rack today because of wind advisory. Wind was 30 miles per hour and plus at times. My wife didn't notice today if the martin was back or not. I guess she was busy doing other things. So I have a 3 day week end and I will be looking for it. I am still hoping it will stay. I play the Dawn Song from 5:00AM till 7:00PM everyday. I don't have a very loud speaker system. But the same I think they can hear it quite far even at a low loudness. Any louder and it would make my wife mad at me. Keep fingers crossed that the martin decides to stay. Will keep you posted.

Steve,
Good luck in getting your martin to bring in a pretty female. Is your bird an SY male?
It was hard for me to get rid of sparrows and starling too. But I wanted martins so badly that I would have jumped through hoops to get them. Good luck in not getting caught by your wife while eliminating your sparrow. LOL.

My visiting Martin that has been here 3 mornings straight was here today. Not sure if it was here yesterday or not. My wife didn't notice. So lets just say it has been here 5 mornings straight. I wish I could tell if it is sleeping here or not. Just maybe it could happen again having martins. Just keeping my fingers crossed he stays and brings a companion with it. I wish I knew if it was a guy or Female. I haven't been home to see it. I am at work in the mornings. My wife doesn't care what sex it is. It's a da...... bird. Hope to see it this weekend.
I wish I could get the male sparrow gone. My chances would be greatly increased.
