i have my first babies!
I did a nest check today and found 3 of my 5 eggs hatched! I believe they hatched yesterday because they matched the day old pictures from PMCA. Also I noticed mom and dad changed their behaviour yesterday. It was obvious they were feeding and tending to little ones. These are my first babies from my first pair.

Awesome tcg! I have my first babies also! Im a nervous wreck for the next month worrying these little guys all have a safe time up to fledging! Got 4 more eggs due to hatch in about 8 more days. Congrats to you and wishing you success for this first!!!

- Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.
In an attempt to ease your anxiety level, please remember these are Purple Martin babies and the Purple Martin has been successfully raising them for thousands of years without our help. They'll be fine!!
You're all doing everything right so far -- eliminating nest competitors, installing predator guards and snake netting, providing acceptable housing -- what else is there??? I think it may be time to relax and enjoy. This is what is has all been for. Now watch them grow and marvel at the production!! You've got the best seats in the house. Good job!!

Yeah, I know! I think about that too,that these guys know what theyre doing! LOL! I think its newbie jitters for me! Heck, I cant wait till next year already!!!
