Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.

Well, congratulations!!

Aren't they wonderful?!

Enjoy your season... 8)
Sincerely,
Laverne

Now that's what we like to hear! Good job and best of luck this season. I have nowhere near your numbers but today was very busy at the house too with what seemed like new birds stirring things up all day. We have a north wind which I thought would put a damper on things but I guess not  Thanks for the information.

Here at my place, the biggest SY migration is the first week of May and always has been. I figure by the end of next week I will have large numbers of SY birds fighting for position. Last year I had about 50 or 60 arrive every day that week but most would be here for a day or so and move on. Generaly 8 or 10 out of each flock that arrive stick around.

Sincerely

I'm new to success but it seems to me up here the peak of the SY migration was the first week of June. That's when I usually had many more SY visitors. Another ASY pair stopped in today. We'll see if they stay tonight.

Glad to hear the ASY's are still coming in and the SY's will be arriving soon. I'm in Bloomington, IN so not far from you and trying to get a colony established. Please post when the SY's start to arrive so I can keep a closer lookout. Good luck with your colony this year.
