As most know an ASY male staked his claim to my new Expanded compartment Trio with 2 BoNine's under it on Good Friday.
Ever since then he has been bringing the ladies back. I would guess based upon markings and behavior that he has brought back at least 3 different females.
It's really fun watching him land and trying to call the female in. The females seem really leary of everything. Any sort of movements or loud noises usually scare the females away.
He will fly in and land on the porch, then call the female in to the house. usually she will land on the roof perch. Then he will go into the compartment and call some more. The female will then work her way down the roof and peak over the edge. Sometimes she will jump down to the porch. It is very unusual at this point for the female to actually go into the compartment. Usually she flys off and he goes darting after.
Pretty interesting scene to see play out.
I keep hoping he hangs on to my house until the SY's get here.

dorn; i am in the same situiation here with my trio's and 2 bo11p gourds under both that i have in front yard;;my asy male has been bringing ladies in for several days but have not got one too stay;; he has laid claim too the 2 trio's as he fought another asy male too the ground this morning and it moved too anther trio i have in back yard;;this could be my founding asy male from last year;;after about 2 pm seems like he leaves and i don't see him again till the next morning ;jr2

There is something like that going on at my place as well. There are two ASY males coming around. One comes several times a day most days and spends at least some nights here. I see the other one nearly every day, only once or twice, and he is attracted to the gourds. I have a brand new Gemini rack with four choices of gourds (THG, TVG, Super Gourds, and Excluders) and an old plastic house that is still there just because I never took it down after getting my Gemini up. Of course, the boy who is here often has ignored the new rack and chosen a compartment in the house! 
But that's okay, all I care about is that he gets him a little wife and they stay and proliferate! They would be my founding pair. 
He's brought several girls by but none of the girls has stayed yet. I am hoping that a cute little subbie girl will come along soon and fall for this very handsome fellow. I just don't want him to get discouraged and give up! Good luck to you, Jr2 and Dorn, and everyone else trying to get started this year!!

- Martin Colony History: First pair in 2009 after 28 years of trying. 3 pairs 2010, 17 pairs 2011 and 35-45 pairs since. Many additional colonies are now springing up around mine in an area once completely void of Martins. I offer 50 compartments at my site consisting of primarily Excluder II gourds on Gemini racks. Also a wooden T-14. I utilize electric fence type predator guards on the base of the poles. Supplemental feeding is crucial in maintaining my colony. I platform feed throughout the season as needed. My site tends to be a stop over point for additional birds as they migrate further north.
SY females will come to the rescue.... I hope for you folks.

Supplemental feeding plays a major role in Western Pennsylvania. Finally got my 1st pair in 2009 after 28 years of effort. The colony has grown quickly to 45 pairs that I care for. Many new colonies have now sprung up around me in the past few years as well. Where there was none.... there is many.
