Yesterday when I looked out and saw a female swoop through my backyard over top of the down housing I couldn't believe it!
But this morning when I looked out and there were 3 on the rack I was shocked to say the least, esp. since last year was my first year having any. They were here most of the morning and the first cavity they went to was the one that was used by the SY's last year.
There was a male and 2 females. The pics aren't very good, just snapped them quick with my phone this morning. I just hope they can find enough to eat or will let me feed the if need be. It's been cold here at night and this week is supposed to be the same.

Congrats! I'm still waiting in SW Michigan. I'm directly on Lake Michigan and I'm thinking the cold wind off the lake is keeping them inland a few miles.

PMCA member. Trendsetter 12 system on Lake Michigan, 2011: 1 pair laid eggs, lots of vistors, 2012: added dawnsong and decoys, no luck (Had a wren take over the house), 2013 added four Troyer gourds to up my chances.

I wish I knew if that was him or not, from what I've heard/ read it would be pretty early for a 2yo bird to be back already but know way to know for sure.

You are probably right about the cold wind coming off the lake right now. There is a pretty big colony on the North side of the Grand Haven channel that has 50+ pairs and you rarely see any birds there this time of year because of the colder temps and lack of bugs I would assume.
Have you registered your colony at michiganmartins.com?
