Nobody told me when I started getting serious about this hobby that it would be all consuming!!! For the last several days since I opened the house to our returned martins, I have spent more time screaming at sparrows; spotting for my husband to take them out; new arrival of 3 starlings (one less today  ) and now my son just called and said we have a Coopers Hawk hanging out on a pine tree in the back pasture.

He went out in blasted a 22 into the ground which scared him off but he has returned! My poor dog is so jittery from all the gunfire that she needs a sedative!

I guess I am going to have to take a leave from work!!!

What next an owl??? If I remember correctly, things settled down after more martins came in to defend the homefront.
