Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.

I just checked the radar for roosts in Dallas area. There is clearly one in Waco, Dallas, and one at Possum Kingdom Lake. There may be more - they appear to be having some of that precipitation stuff this morning...

By the way, it is 7:20 and I can still see the signature donut images on the radars.
Sincerely,
Laverne

Hi Laverne,
How do you check the radar? Do you know where in Dallas? I would love to go and view it!

Thanks!

yes they have been over by the bowling alley & Walmart in the Large Oak Trees , but they do move from one location to another

Trisha
here is the address of the Garland Roost
They are Gathering right off of Northwest Hwy between Northwest & I-635
The walmart address by where they Gather is Walmart Supercenter 1801 Marketplace Dr, Garland, TX 75041 (972) 279-8742
When you are facing the bowling alley from the Bradford pear trees, WalMart is to the right. The PM's are in trees by the bowling alley and WalMart. They are roosting in the larger trees on both sides of the street between the bowling alley and WalMart. It looks like another large roost this year

Your Martin Friend,
Kenny

SOS from Roger's Wildlife.

I am bumping this up so landlords in the Dallas area might possibly help..........Roger's is always there for landlords in the Dallas area that need help with their martins. They also help many others thanks to Penny's Internet participation. THEY NOW NEED YOUR/OUR HELP!

Please read this post in the link below, and contact the center if you have birds returning for the night, know where they go during the day or know of any landlords with colonies that are still active.

Some landlords in the DFW area might not be Internet active, but you might know where they are located and if birds are returning at night. Roger's NEEDS to release the birds that have been rehabbed, and they need help finding locations in which to release.

Thank you so much.
