My Barn Swallows have fledged!

Well to my surprise, my nesting pair of Barn Swallows that I thought had left the area because of the drout, built themselves a nest between the underside of my roof overhang and the covered patio roof. It stays alot cooler under there. Well they had 5, yes count em, 5 lil babies that have all fledged Sunday. They have been zipping around the yard and under the patio, riding on the ceeling fan that slowly rotates with the wind. They are every bit as entertaining as my Martins, and just as cute. I hope ther return next year too.

I'll bet they will be back. I have barn swallows that nest in the barn (go figure) every year. One pair always nests on top of an electric junction box.
