I would like to buy a small Trio house that I can use with Spar-o-door traps. If anyone has an old one laying around that you would like to sell, please let me know. I am near Corpus Christi, Texas. Thanks!

If you don't have a trio house you could set that door into a wooden box, use stiff coat hanger wire to hang the door and install a removable peg or screw at the bottom to keep door closed. I have 2 set up this way and have caught many sparrows in it. I found it's easier to add an access port on one side instead of using the cup for removal. Mine are on top of 10' 4x4's and can reach it with a step ladder.

Try craigslist...they sell all kinds of stuff...just type in "purple martin" in search space for the Corpus Christi craigslist or surrounding areas.

Thanks for the ideas. I will probably have to build something, but will keep looking.

Martin Colony History: 24 Super and Excluder Gourds on two gourd racks, all SREH. Full occupancy. My philosophy is to maximize fledge % with existing cavities rather than adding gourds to grow colony, thus providing opportunities for new colony expansion. Fledge over 100 nestlings yearly from 24 gourds. Band nestlings in cooperation with state university. 2019 Adendum: Reduced colony size to 12 gourds to focus on more intensive management regimen.

I just drove around the countryside until I saw one full of sparrow nests and in a dilapidated condition. I asked the resident and they were only too happy to let me have it when I offered to dig out the pole and take the entire eyesore off their hands.
