I don't post that much on here but enjoy reading everyones topics. But I recently moved from my old location last fall. I left around 37 pair. I have a new location that is very open and has a cotton field that connects to my yard. I have put up only one rack that hold 18 gourds. Today I had an ASY male stay most of the day. He was very interested and went in my WDC modified entrances like he had done it before. I hope he brings in more!!

- Martin Colony History: Had a colony many years ago which dwindled over a couple of years and then did not return. Kept trying each year for almost 20 years and finally had a small success in 2011 with two pairs nesting. Colony has grown slowly each year with 22 pairs in 2015. In 2016 my gourd rack of 18 gourds filled up so I added 4 more gourds and then put up a small rack of 6 gourds. All of those were claimed within a few days so I believe I have at least 25 pairs this year.
Congratulations Darryl - that's a good start for a new site. With that nice looking set up you might fill up soon. Best of Luck.

It's the Delux 18 rack from CUE. They make incredible gourd racks!! I also wanted to report that he is staying the night. He has been trying to lure more Martins all day. I could watch him all day!!

Thanks Daryl - you'll likely have that rack brimming with martins soon enough!
I totally understand your excitement. Right now, mine is guarded so that I don't appear too crazy about birds that don't exist yet. However, once they arrive, I don't care who thinks I'm nuts!
