Martin Colony History: I moved to South Florida, from Delaware, in August of 2015.

I care for a 6 condo Sunset House as well as two Deluxe Gourd Racks, with 24 Chirpynest/Excluder gourds, along a canal in Pompano Beach, Florida.

At Quiet Waters Park, nearby in Deerfield Beach, I care for a Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 TVG's. I also care for a Deluxe Gourd rack with 12 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder entrances. I am substituting 6 Chirpynest boxes for 6 of the Conley II entranced gourds in 2026.

At another local park, Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, I care for a Trendsetter 12, 5 gourds rack with 60 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder Entrances and 1 Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 Troyer Vertical Gourds with Starling Stoppers over the Conley II's to keep out smaller starlings.

I see where the migration of scouts has reached SE Virginia so they should be showing up here in coastal Delaware in the next week or two. I erected one of my two gourd setups today. I am excited! HOPING to get at least one nesting pair this year. Last year I had LOTS of SY lookers but no actual nests. I spray painted the insides of the Supergourds and Troyers dark green (paint for plastic) and placed dried pine needles in each gourd. I have the entrances plugged with plastic bags to keep out house sparrows and tree swallows. I will try to attach some pics. You can see my homemade owl/crow guards. I hope this is my year!!!!! Hopefully, all those "Open House" lookers will become buyers this season. :-)

Hello Carlton,
You have a great pole set-up! And plenty of flying room for the martins! I just love those Troyer Horizontal Gourds and will make that my gourd from now on! Thanks John!
