I HAVE A NEW COATES H.D. POLE THAT TELESCOPES. THE TENSION SCREWS THAT FIT ABOVE THE SAFETY BOLTS DO NOT SEEM VERY SECURE. SHOULD I DRILL A HOLE IN THE SMALLER SECTION FOR BETTER SECURITY. HAD A LOT OF WIND HERE THE LAST FEW DAYS.
ALSO WOULD'NT THIS HELP TO HAVE THE SAME POSITION EVERY TIME AFTER LOWERING.
I ALSO COLLECT POSTCARDS, HAS ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANY CARDS WITH MARTINS ON THEM. IF SO LET ME KNOW & I'LL ADD THEM TO MY COLLECTION.
THANKS,

I used this pole last year at a golf course site. You may know it's critical to martins that the house stays turned the same way. I worry that with this pole, it's easy to get the house turned in the opposite direction and not notice when one raising it. There is a little indented guide on the pole. You may want to paint some prominent guides. I'd note some feature of the house to watch as a backup.

Re: the tension screws. The pole may wobble slightly but it appears to be sturdy. As I'm not an engineer I'll stop there.
