Surprising late migration in Central MN

Up till this morning, there have been very few martins around my colonies here at Mille Lacs. I was actually worried that something happened to them in migration. This morning, every porch had a pair of martins sitting on it, and there are high numbers in other colonies here as well.

That is good news, Kelly - hopefully late arrivals will help a bit in making up the birds lost to bad weather. It is a unique year - we are still seeing subadults setting up nests at new sites here in south TX.
