Congratulations, Stan. As I have said before, that first chirp is the sweetest. I hope you enjoy a fabulous 2010 season.
I think it is so nice that landlords report their first martin not only on the Scout Arrival Report, but also on The Forum so the arrival experience can be shared with friends that truly understand the excitement of it all.........

Thanks Linda. I was just getting ready to go inside after a day of looking up in the sky with a sore neck and out of the corner of my eye. I saw her. She swooped down and landed then took off again. Did this a few times. It will be hard to go to work tomorrow.

- Martin Colony History: I moved to South Florida, from Delaware, in August of 2015.
I care for a 6 condo Sunset House as well as two Deluxe Gourd Racks, with 24 Chirpynest/Excluder gourds, along a canal in Pompano Beach, Florida.
At Quiet Waters Park, nearby in Deerfield Beach, I care for a Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 TVG's. I also care for a Deluxe Gourd rack with 12 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder entrances. I am substituting 6 Chirpynest boxes for 6 of the Conley II entranced gourds in 2026.
At another local park, Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, I care for a Trendsetter 12, 5 gourds rack with 60 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder Entrances and 1 Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 Troyer Vertical Gourds with Starling Stoppers over the Conley II's to keep out smaller starlings.
That is exiciting Stan! I hope you have a good season and see many more martins.

Right before dark she came in and went from house to house . She finally chose a super gourd and went in for the night.

Stan, congratulations! I will start watching closer. On Sunday, I remodeled the house at Swan Lake and made the rooms double compartments, so hope that helps to increase the occupancy there. Have a great season!

Stan, congrats on your 2010 arrival. We also have been watching the skies this week, but no arrival yet here in Verdigris.
It's going to be a challenging season with the enormous number of grackles and black birds that have overtaken the neighborhood through the winter months. We've also had a hawk that has been very pesty. We couldn't believe it one day when we saw it sitting on our front porch eating lunch. Needless to say, it didn't get to stay very long. Pair of sparrows immediately took up residence when we raised the houses. So, it will be a battle of wills till all our matins arrive.
Dick, here's hoping you get a house full of martins this season.

Thanks Redfinch. I like having some grackles around here. They set off an alarm when a hawk is near. As for the sparrows. they are everywhere this year!!!!!!!!.
