....should I put it from my martin poles? I have a blitz house that I intend to convert into a Bates Motel  with a few traps this year. Has anyone found any certain distance that minimizes the trapping of martins? Thanks

Martin Colony History: First started in Gretna, La in 1969 with a small homemade house, have had martins ever since at 2 different homes in Texas

The distance is not critical, I have one that is about 75 ft away, about 5ft from a pear tree, and that is their favorite. I had some traps at different distances so it depends upon the human traffic. The traps works best the farther from human traffic that you can put it. They like to be near small out buildings, trees, or bushes. They do not like to be disturbed by humans when they are house hunting...I even caught many on the martin poles, I hung the trap about 4 to 5 ft below the martin house...of course, they all must be monitored closely...

My S & S Controller is about 50-60 ft away, next to the side of my house and apple tree. In 2 years, I had only 1 subbie (born that year) martin enter. Works like a charm. I love that trap! :)
I'm a "nestcamaholic" Is 18 hours a day a bad thing? (I have 2 this year, luckily I have 2 eyes!)
