I like this design. I was thinking of using this instead of the round aluminum duct design. Any idea if one is more effective than the others?

Nesto, I have had good luck with this guard, I have them on 6 poles. I make them so you can loosen a t handle set screw slide them down the pole mount a winch and it will operate above the guard. When the rack is raised you remove the winch and slide the guard back into position. The same winch is used on all the poles.

Did you make the guard yourself? I know a lot of sheet metal guys. I might ask one of them to make me a couple.

Yes I make them myself. I use 26 ga galv material. Have a good season.
