I was wondering if my fellow Georgia Martineers have had an nice influx of Martins compared to last year. This is my 3rd year and have a good sized colony going here in Albany. 30-40 birds so far.

Here in LaGrange we have two pair that have been staying here--one pair since March 11 and the other pair for about two weeks now. When the two pair returned this pm they had three more with them, however, once it got time to go in the gourds, the three tag-alongs left. Had no martins last year that stayed so I am hoping for the best this year. No sign of nesting yet..they stay in the morning till about 10 or 11 and return just before dark, fly around for awhile and eventually go inside the gourds. Paul

Hi Folks,
This is my sixth year and my colony has grown each year. I've got more birds here than I've had before at this time of the year and don't know if it's from growth or just early birds. Over 150.

Here in NE Ga I am at or ahead of last year, we really didn't know what to expect as last year we had 3 nesting but only one successful nest. a starling killed a female & 6 eggs she was setting on and another nest all died from heat I am guessing. so I don't know how many to expect and also my sight is less than ideal, not too open. The one pr that has been here since 3/10 is building. Hoping my colony will grow this yr.

Our first martin was 2 1/2 weeks early, then the others were almost three weeks later than usual. I have the normal amount now, but haven't seen but one subbie.
