Albino Martin at Tulsa Roost

Last night we were watching the martins come in, and one of them was almost pure white. It really stood out among the dark-backed martins. It is likely that it was raised in a state north of here. Does anyone know of a nest with an albino in KS, MO or Nebraska this year?

Hi Dick,
I raised an Albino fledging ( pure white with reddish eyes ) last year at my site located just south of Saskatoon, Sask, Canada. However I never saw it this past season at my colony and never heard it being sighted. I had assumed it had perished last winter on it's travel to South America. We had the Albino banded. Did you happen to notice an aluminum band on it's right leg? I guess it could be my bird, one will never know unless the band number can be read. One can only dream that it is still flying the blue skies.

Jerry, thanks for your message. It was always on the move when we saw it. I will be back at the roost several times this week and will watch for it, and also try to look for a band.
