Eggshell Recipe?

I have been saving my eggshells for the last few weeks and storing them in the fridge. This question may sound a little silly but how do you prepare them? Wash them? Dry them in a low oven? Just keep them in the fridge and not wash them or keep them in the fridge after washing them? I plan to mix them with oyster shell in trays clamped to my poles. I also plan to put a bit of chicken wire above the brew to act as a wind deterrent.

Thanks in advance for instructions!

Sue, I rinse the slime out and put them in the microwave for 3 minutes. I then put them ia a freezer bag and put them in the fridge until I need them. The martins love them especially the females. Good luck this year.

Some people put them in a pillowcase, and stick them into the wash machine and then dry them in the dryer...That breaks them up. I never have done this, but if you have a bunch of old unwashed shells, thats what I would tryl

Oyster shells are not very expensive, if you don't want to mess with eggshells, go to a farm feed store and buy the smallest size that you can get, they work good
