I have a 16 gourd array that I took down at the end of my first season last year. When should I put them back out? I live near New Orleans, LA. Although saddened by the damage Katrina did, I hope some of the birds who might find their homes from last year destroyed will find my accommodations to their liking.

Mark and Michelle, If I lived where you do, I would hang my gourds now. Birds could arrive in your area any day now!!! Lots of luck this year and may all your gourds be full. Sue

markschn, I am glad that you have gourds left to hang after Katrina. I would put them up now, there may be many martins looking for homes down there this year. A martin has been reported a few days ago in St Martinville, so they should be coming in soon.

good luck

markschn, For sure, I would put them up now. I just got my first nesting pair last year after trying for 5 years. I really think I lucked out because there were so many PM houses that weren't put back up after Hurricane Ivan around here. I hope to attrack a few nesting pairs this year. Good Luck to you.

Do you live just north Of Crestview, Fl.? I was in that area working and notice a sign that just said Laurel Hill is not much further away! Let me know! Thanks John!

Mark and Michelle. I'd get that housing/gourds up now. I'd say the PMs could be in your area now, or will be with in days now. CUL Lou
