We've added a roost information sheet to the download center on the main PMCA webpage. You can download it and share with local newspapers or with anyone who comes to view the roost nearest you.

Thanks to landlord Jace Stansbury of Nederland TX, who drafted the page. Having local landlords act as roost ambassadors can be very helpful in letting people know what kind of birds are making all that noise, how long they'll be around, and that every one of those birds came from a caring landlord's backyard. That information, plus the fact that martins dine solely on flying insects, ought to earn the martins some respect and tolerance.
We appreciate the new roost reports being made this season - without the cooperation and help of landlords around the country, Project MartinRoost will not be as effective in locating and protecting martin roosts. Thanks to all who are out there looking for roosts.

Thank you Louise,
This is a good tool to have! I will print out and take some to the roost in Ravenswood this evening we meet the photographer from the Charleston Daily Mail.
Maybe this hand out along with the news story will help to halt the banging on pots and police sirens.
Maybe we should name roosts to give them more importance.
The one near Mt. Morris, PA just above Morgantown, WV is call the Ralph Bell Purple Martin Roost. It was highlighted at their Purple Martin Festival in June.

I think that information sheet is a great idea, and anyone who visits a roost should take a stack along to pass out. It's all a question of salespersonship! Changing the roost from a misunderstood annoyance to an event that people can be proud of is exactly what's needed!
