I have been watching them since last friday,,,,,they would come and go and always kept checking out #16 white Big Bo, no tunnel, modified clinger(about a 1/8" bellied out in center) 30 degree uplift tail prop ,no porch. They started a serious attitude at about 2PM today and visited about every thirty minutes from 5PM until 8PM when they finally went in to roost. I believe they have been here all along since saturday but are late to roost where the first ASY pair usually comes in with about an hour of daylight to go.
I decided today I was going to wait them out and spent 4 straight hours waiting and waiting. My wife even brought me supper on a tray and I ate sitting in a lawn chair while on watch. She brought me coffee and oatmeal cookies later
Dick,
I love reading your posts. I must say you are a dedicated martin landlord. The martins are in good hands with you Dick! Hope you get a bunch more.
My last nest check was Friday and I'll check Friday this week to see if all the eggs survived the terrible weekend weather.
You have the best wife too, I must say! It takes team work in this hobby
I'm a "nestcamaholic" Is 18 hours a day a bad thing? (I have 2 this year, luckily I have 2 eyes!)
Congratulations I am not going to say I told you so that you will have martins this year but I did, ha, ha. This is another Woooooooooo Hooooooooooo moment (I hope Bob does not mind me using this lately when I get all excited about people getting their martins or new martins). 2 pairs that is absolutely great, your "martin fever" must be very high. It is so nice to hear that you took all that time to wait them out to see what is going on. Your wife must be a very special lady....not only that she understands you spending so much time outside, but to also serve you dinner and desert with coffee....how much nicer can it get. You both are great and congratulations again E N J O Y and best wishes to you, your wife and your martins for this season
Yes she does and I just love it ,I think I'll just keep her.We just celebrated our 25th, second marriage for both of us ,see how much we learned with our practice spouses>
