I might be using the wrong term - I'm wondering if there is anyplace in Tennessee where the martins gather before taking off again for South America. 'Roost' is the only word that will come out of my brain at the moment. Our birds are probably getting ready to go - we still have a few unfledged left but for the most part, the young have been in the air a couple of weeks. I can tell there are fewer coming back at night. :-( We had a very good year, though. We cut down a big maple tree and the martins have enjoyed more flying space between houses. If anyone knows of a place in Tennessee where the martins gather, I'd appreciate it if you'd post it. Thanks so much. jasmemphis

Yes there is.
If you will look under the roost information posted here on the Forum, you will find the information I posted concerning the roost at Dale Hollow Lake, north of Livingston, in Middle Tennessee.
Also, early morning radar, around the first of August, clearly shows another roost north of you, somewhere on the river. As far as I know, no one has pinpointed that roost as to exact location.
The Dale Hollow roost has been located at Lily Dale Resort for the past few years. It should be at it's peak the first couple of weeks in August.
